A comedian press kit (or comedy EPK) is one link a booker can check in two minutes. Lead with your tape. Under it: a 50 to 60 word bio, credits by slot (host, feature, headliner), your set lengths and whether you have a clean set, a headshot, your avails, a quote or two, and one booking email. 01 What goes in it
What goes in a comedian press kit: eight things, in the order a booker checks them.
- Your tape, first. A booker's real question is “are you funny?”, and only a clip answers it. Put your best five minutes where it plays without scrolling.
- Your name, what you do, and where you are based, on the first screen. “Stand-up. Clean set available. Host. Columbus, Ohio.”
- Credits, by slot. Where you have hosted, featured and headlined, festivals, competitions, TV, podcasts. Say the slot: “featured at” means more than “performed at”.
- Set lengths, and whether you are clean. Host, 15, 30, 45. A clean set opens corporate, college and cruise work, so say it plainly if you have one.
- A short bio, 50 to 60 words, in the third person, so a club can paste it into the listing.
- A headshot and a few stage photos, credited. One headshot a club can put on a poster.
- Avails and where you travel. Upcoming shows, open weekends, how far you drive. A booker filling a date wants to know you can make it.
- A quote or two, and one booking contact. A line from a booker or a review beats a paragraph about yourself. Then one email address.
02 A full example

Comedian bio examples: three short ones you can steal the shape of.
Each one is about 60 words and follows the same order: who you are and where from, what the act is about, proof, and what you can do for the room. These are made-up comics, written as examples.
Club feature and host
Rosie Kettleman is a Columbus stand-up who grew up behind the counter of her family's hardware store and still talks like it. She features and hosts at clubs across Ohio, Indiana and Michigan, about 150 sets a year, and has a clean 30 that works for corporate and college rooms.
Clean comic for corporate and private events
Tessa Brandvold spent eleven years in hotel sales before she started doing stand-up, and her act is the office she left: conference calls, trade shows, the one coworker who replies all. She has done clean sets for more than 80 company events since 2020, from sales kickoffs to holiday parties, and works from 20 to 45 minutes.
Storyteller and headliner
Marisa Oyelaran is a Chicago comic who tells long stories about growing up between a Nigerian father and an Irish Catholic mother. She headlines clubs across the Midwest, has run a monthly storytelling show for six years, and was a finalist at two regional festivals. Her headline set runs 45 to 60 minutes, PG-13.
Write yours in the third person. Skip “has been making people laugh since she was a kid”; every comic has that line. Put a number in it: sets a year, years running a room, events worked. And say what you can do for the booker, because that is what gets you the date.
04 The tape
The comedy tape: what clip to send a booker.
- Five minutes, one take. Your best five, recorded in one go, with no cuts between jokes. Bookers distrust an edited clip, because cuts hide the bits that did not land.
- A real crowd, recently. Laughter from a real room, filmed in the last year. An empty open mic tells a booker less than no tape at all.
- Sound first. A phone on a tripod is fine if the audio is clean: record from the board, or put a small recorder near the speaker. Bad sound is the most common reason a clip gets turned off.
- Frame it wide enough to see you from the knees up. No zooming, no fancy edits.
- Have a clean ten if you want corporate, college or cruise work, and label it clean.
- Want host spots? Add a short clip of you hosting and working the crowd.
- Host it on YouTube or Vimeo, unlisted if you like, and put it on your kit. Never attach a video file to an email.
05 The booking email
How to email a comedy booker: short, with one tape link.
Check the club's website for a submission page first; many ask for tape through a form. If they take email, keep it to four sentences:

Send it to the person who books, by name. Follow up once, after about two weeks, then leave it. If it is a paid corporate date, put your rate in the first email; planners would rather know.
06 Tech needs
A comedian's tech needs: one page, mostly for corporate rooms.
A club already knows what a comic needs: a mic, a stand, a stool, water and light. Corporate and private events often do not, which is how comics end up doing ten minutes during dessert service with a lapel mic. One page fixes that:
- A handheld wireless mic, not a lapel mic, and a stand.
- A stage or riser facing the audience, house lights at half, the stage lit.
- The set after the meal, with no service, raffles or awards during it.
- Your intro, written out, for whoever hands you the mic.
- Set length, arrival time, and what “clean” means to you, so nobody is surprised.
Make it in any word processor, save it as a PDF, and attach it to your kit's downloads. The sample kit has one you can look at.
07 How to build it
How to make a comedy EPK with LiveEPK: five steps, about twenty minutes.
- Sign up and pick a template. The Spotlight puts video near the top, which suits a comic. You can switch later without losing anything.
- Fill in Basics and Bio: name, city, a one-line tagline (“Feature, host, and a clean 30”), your hero photo, the 60-word bio, and a details list for set lengths and content.
- Paste your clips. YouTube or Vimeo links, your best five first. Skip the music section; left empty, it does not show on the kit.
- Add shows, credits and quotes. Upcoming dates go in Tour, marked sold out, on hold or to be announced if you like. Past credits go under “Past notable”. Then rename the headings: “Tour” to “Shows and avails”, “Video” to “Clips”.
- Add a booking contact, attach your PDFs, publish. You get a live link to send the same day.

09 What it costs
Free to publish. Five dollars for your own name.
Building the kit and publishing it is free: every template, every section, live at a generated link with a small LiveEPK badge, no credit card. One paid plan, $5 a month, puts it at your own name (yourname.liveepk.com), removes the badge, and adds the booking email composer, which builds a pitch email with your clips and dates already in it.

- Is a PDF press kit enough?
- A PDF cannot play your tape, is hard to read on a phone, and is out of date the first time your avails change. Send a link, and keep a one-page PDF (a one-sheet) inside it for venues that print things.
- Can a comedian use LiveEPK if it is made for musicians?
