The short version
A stage plot template is a finished stage plot for a band like yours. You change the names, move the gear, and the input list follows. The six here cover the setups venues see most. Each opens in the stage plot maker with no account, and downloads as a one-page PDF in Letter or A4.
01 What is on the page
What a stage plot template includes: four parts, one page.
- The drawing. The stage from above at true scale, with the audience at the bottom. Performers, amps, mics, DIs, wedges and power drops, each labelled.
- The input list. One row per channel: what it is, and the mic or DI it needs. It fills in as you place gear.
- Monitor mixes. What each wedge or in-ear mix should carry.
- Backline, power and notes. What you bring, what you need from the venue, set length.
The band name, venue, date and a contact number run across the top. If you want to see only the drawings side by side, with each rider written out, that is the stage plot examples page.
02 Rock band
Band stage plot template: the 4-piece rock band.

The one most bands start from. Drums on a riser in the middle, bass on stage right, guitar on stage left, three vocal mics across the front and a wedge for each.
- Channels12: seven on the drums, bass DI, guitar amp, three vocals
- Monitor mixes4 wedges
- Good forRock, indie, country and cover bands of three to five

03 Big band
Stage plot template for a 7-piece band: keys and horns.

More people on the same stage, and still one page. Two keyboards in stereo, a horn section with its own mix, and a tighter input list so it prints on one sheet.
- Channels18: drums, bass, guitar, two stereo keyboards, trumpet, sax, three vocals
- Monitor mixes6
- Good forWedding and party bands, soul and funk bands, anything with horns

04 Duo
Stage plot template for a duo: two people, two wedges.

A keyboard player and a singer with an acoustic guitar. Small enough that the whole plot reads at a glance, which is the point.
- Channels5: stereo keys, acoustic DI, two vocals
- Monitor mixes2 wedges
- Good forSinger-songwriter duos, restaurant and winery gigs

05 Solo
Solo acoustic stage plot template: one mic, one DI.

- Channels2: acoustic DI and a vocal
- Monitor mixes1 wedge
- Good forSolo acoustic acts, openers, house concerts

- Write the band name, venue, date and a phone number that someone at the show will answer.
- Draw each person where they stand. The audience is at the bottom, and stage left is your left when you face them.
- Add amps, the drum kit, keyboards, each vocal mic and each wedge. Label everything in words.
- Fill in the input list, drums first, vocals last. One row per mic or DI.
- Say what each monitor mix should carry, and what you need the venue to provide.
Some engineers are happy with a clear hand drawing. A typed one is easier to read in a dark room and easier to update, which is what the stage plot maker is for.
09 The table under the drawing
Input list template: what goes in each column.
The input list is the part the engineer patches from. Every template above comes with one, and the blank PDF has an empty one.
| Column | What to write | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Ch | The channel number. Drums first, then bass, guitars, keys, and vocals last. | 1 |
| Source | What is being picked up, with the player if there are two of something. | Kick |
| Mic / DI | The mic you would like, with "or similar", or DI for anything plugged in direct. | Beta 52 or similar |
| Stand | Short, tall or boom, or none for a clip mic. | Short stand |
| Notes | Anything that changes the patch: phantom power, a stereo pair, your own mic. | We bring this mic |
Name mics you would like, not mics you insist on. A venue has what it has. The written page that goes with the plot is the tech rider template.
10 Quick answers
Stage plot template: common questions.
- What is a stage plot template?
- A stage plot template is a ready-made stage plot you edit to match your band. It shows the stage from above with every performer, amp, mic, monitor and power drop, and it comes with an input list. The LiveEPK templates open in a free stage plot maker, so you rename and move things on screen and download a one-page PDF.
- Is there a free stage plot template?
- Yes. All six templates on this page are free to open, edit and download, with no account and no watermark. The blank stage plot template is a free PDF in Letter and A4.
- Can I get a stage plot template for Word, Google Docs or Canva?
- You can draw one with shapes in Word, Google Docs or Canva, but you place and label every item by hand and build the input list separately. In the LiveEPK stage plot maker the gear is drawn to scale and the input list fills in as you place mics and DIs. If you want paper, print the blank PDF on this page.
- What should a band stage plot template include?
- Where each performer stands, their instruments and amps, every vocal mic, every monitor wedge with its mix, and where you need power. Under the drawing, an input list with one row per channel, and a line about what each monitor mix should carry. Across the top, the band name, the date, and a phone number for someone who will be at the show.
- Does a stage plot template include an input list?
- These do. Each template has its input list on the same page as the drawing, in the order engineers expect: drums first, then bass, guitars and keys, with vocals last. The blank PDF has an empty input list with columns for the mic or DI and the stand.
